The Golden Pencil is the highest award in Slovenia in the field of architecture and landscape architecture. The Golden Pencil 2016 was awarded on Friday, October 16, 2016, on the occasion of Architects' Day at the Museum of Architecture and Design. This year, the commission chose the best of the 58 submitted projects and thus awarded four golden pencils.
A golden pencil it is the most important architectural and landscape architecture award in our country. It is awarded to bureaus for certain projects that are conceptual, radical and outstanding in their realization also specially awarded. Golden Pencil 2016, which was awarded on the occasion of Architects' Day at the Museum of Architecture and Design at Fužina Castle, received four offices.
Buildings of the residential neighborhood Brdo F5, 2nd stage
The volume of social housing in Slovenia does not meet the demand, but fortunately the situation has been improving in recent years. Aleš Žnidaršič, Katja Žlajpah and Vesna Vranič also contributed, who received a golden pencil for the Brdo F5 residential neighborhood project. The jury praised the rational approach to affordable realization of the project and, on the other hand, to maintaining good architectural and living conditions.
House on Golem
The apartment house on Golem, a product of the Krušec Architecture office, fulfills two conditions with its innovative flexibility of floor plan: it adheres to its basic concept, and at the same time fulfills the wishes and needs of the client. The windows thoughtfully open towards the Alps, and the space is designed to make the most of natural light.
Rakova Jelša city park
At the junction of Ljubljana and Barje stands the Rakov Jelša Park, which is a bold and successful example of modern landscape architecture. The success of the project is clear especially to those who look to the future. The park is suitable for any future use, which will of course change over time, and the park will enable fruitful development. The authors of the project are Klara Bohinc, Andraž Keršič, Martin Kruh, Aljoša Lipolt, Samo Mlakar, Dino Mujić, Tamara Németh and Rok Žnidaršič.

Reconstruction of the Slovenian road in Ljubljana
The closure of Slovenska cesta to passenger vehicles was one of the more radical moves of the Ljubljana municipality in the area of architectural planning in the last few years. The success of the integration of the two halves of the center is largely due to the architectural renovation of Slovenska cesta, for which the creators (Aljoša Dekleva, Tina Gregorič, Jana Kocbek, Davor Katušić, Jurij Sadar, Boštjan Vuga, Marko Studen, Boris Matić, Miha Dobrin and Tomaž Krištof) also received the Golden Pencil 2016.
