In 2024, it will be possible to travel around the world by train. Yes, you heard that right! From the Canadian Rockies to Malaysia jungles. You will be on an epic journey visited as many as 13 countries on four continents. However, you will not be squeezed into completely ordinary carriages. Far from it.
You will travel on seven of the most luxurious trains in the world, while enjoying the best culinary experiences and private cabins. In addition, the itinerary also includes stays in some of the most stunning hotels. Through the window of the private cabin, you will be able to admire the UNESCO World Heritage Site and charming landscapes.
The trip will start in Vancouver, where you will board the Rocky Mountaineer. In three days, you will travel through the Canadian Rockies, visit Lake Louise and Banff National Park. Then you'll head across the pond to Edinburgh for a week-long tour of the lochs and highlands of Belmond Royal Scotsman.
After Scotland, a trip from Paris to Venice follows Belmond Venice-Simplon by Orient Express, and then you will have a chance to see the Taj Mahal. Thanks to six nights at The Maharajas Express from Delhi to Mumbai. Golden Eagle Danube Express departing from Istanbul, it will take passengers through Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary, past castles and hamlets on the hills of SE Europe, in four nights.
To top it off, there is a three-day journey from Pretoria to Cape Town by rail Rovos. Then a plane to Singapore, where passengers will board the newly established Oriental Express for Malaysia.
Planners at Railbookers said they designed the trip to meet the growing demand for luxury rail travel. In addition, a lot of sightseeing time is planned.
Sounds pretty awesome, doesn't it? Well, unfortunately, it also comes at a wonderfully high price. A ticket for the entire three-month journey starts at €103,495 (113,599 $). Also included are hotel stays, car transfers, flights, meals, a safari stay and a climb to the Eiffel Tower.
