An artistic ray from heaven at Grace Cathedral

Grace Cathedral in San Francisco

Grace Cathedral in San Francisco is celebrating 100 years of music in a very special way. The artist Anne Patterson came to visit and breathed a new story into the cathedral for a few months.

If the cathedral is a place dedicated to spiritual introspection, the latter will be with the work it created Anne Patterson even more in-depth. The artist who says she can feel color and see sound is in the cathedral Grace Cathedral created the work "Graced by Light" in San Francisco - she hung as many as 35 kilometers (!) of ribbons hanging from the ceiling of the cathedral and carefully illuminated them. Everything works like a colorful ray from heaven, which is also the purpose of the installation, which is supposed to symbolically connect earth and heaven, and the ribbons carry prayers, dreams and wishes to heaven.

The project was created on the occasion of the centenary of music in this cathedral, which plays an important role in the development of Western music. In this project, music is also the main inspiration of the artist, who focuses on combining visual art, orchestral and classical music into an experience. If we are a little more romantic - it is about the union of art and music, light and sound, space and oneself.
