Enthusiastic responses to last year's Pocestnica inspired the art collective Ljud to once again offer the white-washed Ljubljana: Pocestnica - a "ready-made" open-air gallery that, in the playful spirit of Marcel Duchamp, uses the power of imagination to transform everyday elements of the city of Ljubljana into superb works of art.
Highway is a way of observing. It is the process of discovering patterns in a chaotic world. It is the creation of meaning in landscapes of banality. In a playful spirit Marcel Duchamp Pocestnica is an experiment in the transformation of everyday life with the power of imagination.
On guided tours, the gallery "curator", together with his team of hostesses, also includes unexpected "performances" of unsuspecting passers-by in the gallery collection. A relaxed dialogue about contemporary art, spiced with humor and surprising details from the world of artistic elites, comments on both the urban public space and the conventions of contemporary gallery practices. Visitors can enjoy a glass of wine after the tour the opportunity to contribute newly discovered works of art to the collection.
This year's road trip speciality free creative workshops for children Street=Gallery. At the workshop that will follow the guided tour, children and young people will discover an unrecorded part of our gallery. The existing (un)everyday elements of the city will be transformed into works of art by a simple act - naming. In doing so, they will learn about modern visual art, train in performance skills and discover the city from a new perspective. The workshops are suitable for elementary school children, and their parents are also cordially invited.
It's a road network project, which connects "places-as-galleries" around the world (Maribor - Slovenia, Chalon sur Saone - France, Bialystok - Poland, Graz - Austria, Gwacheon - South Korea, Mons - Belgium, Terschelling - Netherlands, Norwich - Great Britain, etc.). This year, the Danish city of Vordinborg, Scottish Glasgow and Hungarian Budapest will also have their own open-air galleries.
Individual independent galleries are connected by a platform www.streetwalker.si, where, among other things, we also find a selection of the most interesting discovered exhibits.
