After the new BMW 7 and Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the time has come for the new Audi A8. Competitors have introduced cars with new advanced features and technologies that will plow the fallow for each brand and we can expect them in their cars in the future. Audi thus has a difficult task ahead of it, as it must prove that it still belongs at the top of superlimousines.
The exterior design is typically German, conservative. The limousine has an extraordinary clean lines and is not too different from its predecessor, but still enough noticeable. The biggest change was the front part with a mask that stands out even more. New ones Audi A8 it has grown in all dimensions and keeps getting bigger. They are certainly the most noticeable change on the outside laser lights. Of course, it's not a James Bond-style ruse, it's just a supplement to the already established matrix LED-headlight. If the exterior does not scream for novelty, the same cannot be said for the interior. The driver's compartment is now complete digitized, and the digital counters can be admired in full HD resolution 1920x720 pixels. An even bigger surprise is the disappearance of most of the buttons from the center console. Audi hands over most of the handling I gesture, screen on touch and by voice command. However, most functions will still be controlled and accessed via the buttons on the steering wheel. There are a lot of functions to help the driver, Audi claims that quite a few 41. Surround sound in the Audi A8 is not new, but what is new is that now surround sound is also available for the rear seats, which have also been significantly changed. Unfortunately, the latter option is only available in the extended sedan version A8L.
O autopilot systems have been talked about for quite some time, and even at Audi we heard a lot about how the new A8 should be drove alone. Audi now uses a laser to scan the surroundings, which, in cooperation with radars and sensors, monitors what is happening around the car. This ensures that when the driver finds himself in a slowly moving column and does not drive faster than 60 km/h, the A8 can take complete control of the vehicle without the driver even having to hold the steering wheel. Autonomy is more pronounced when parking, where the driver does not even have to be in the car. The system can be activated via applications on a smartphone, and the owner thus controls the parking process from outside the car.
The biggest new thing about powertrains is definitely the fact that they will all be sedans from now on A8 had hybrid technology. Four wheelers the drive remains in play, and the newly developed automatic will take care of power transmission to the wheels 8-speed tiptronic gearbox. The new suspension is also interesting, the components of which now also include electric motors, which regulate the damping of each wheel individually.
