At the international exhibition in Beijing these days, Audi presented the concept of connected mobility, which is based on the existing Audi Q3 model. However, it is definitely not in the foreground, because the center of interest is its rear bumper, or what is hidden in it.
Inside Audi Q3 (read: bumper) hides a fantastic one electric skateboard (longboard), which is automatically charged when you place it in the bumper of the vehicle. The basic idea of the Audi Connected Concept system is that the navigation system independently calculates whether it is better to continue driving with a longboard or a car in case of traffic jams. This means that the system itself will suggest a parking space for you and calculate the fastest route to continue the journey on a slightly different means of transport.
But that's not all! Audi electric longboard it is essentially a gem of engineering as you can use it in a variety of ways. It can be driven as a normal skateboard or you "pull" the handlebars out of it and it becomes a kind of electric scooter. In addition, you can also use it as a kind of cargo cart and transport cargo with it. And you won't have to manage it, as it will follow your smart watch or phone independently.
It has reach 11 kilometers and maximum speed 18 km/h, which is just fast enough to be scary.
Connectable mobility is a buzzword that is appearing more and more often in the automotive industry as car companies look for ways to solve the mobility challenges of the future. Some are experimenting with car sharing concepts, others are implementing modular technologies and testing new drive modes and options for combinations of means of transport. Audi with its concept it belongs to this category.
And yet... If you think about it Audi Q3, you can live the mobile future today with your own electric skateboard.
