Ernst Ingmar Bergman's drama is the first Slovenian production, the success of which, in addition to the author himself, the famous director awarded the "palm of all palms" in Cannes, is predicted by the team of creators who put the work on the stage of the theater in Celje. The director of the work is the former director of the Ljubljana drama, Janez Pipan, who has recently been mainly involved in directing perhaps slightly more demanding dramatic texts. JEssene Sonata tells the story of the world-famous pianist Charlotte, who subordinated her family life to her career. The story begins when Charlotte visits her daughter Eva after many years. She does not know that her second daughter Helene is also there, who is mentally ill and almost incapable of articulate communication. Excellent psychological portraits of people and an unexplained past are the basis of an excellent drama that is extremely relevant today.
