The Thai capital is a real tourist star. She became famous not only because of her portrayal in many blockbuster films, but also because of her diversity, dynamism and excitement. New York may be the city in the western part of the globe that has not closed its eyes, but in the east it is Bangkok.

The city, which is home to as many as 8 million inhabitants, is a true mixture of wealth and poverty. Michelin star restaurants on one side and street stalls with the most delicious Asian food on the other. The choice is yours! One of the most popular tourist destinations in Asia, it is famous not only for its lively street action and wild nightlife, but also for its delicious street food, chaos and cosmopolitanism. The modern city is interspersed with ancient temples and architecture, and in its fabric you can also find a series of green parks to take a break from this bustling city pulse.

When to Bangkok?

Choose a time after the end of monsoon i.e. November or December. Although Thailand is famous for its pleasant temperature throughout the year, it is important to avoid the tourist crowds before the holidays. If you plan to extend your trip to the islands, the period between December and March will be perfect for this.

What should I see in Bangkok?

Home of an American businessman Jim Thompson, who was engaged in the sale of Thai silk, was transformed into a museum, where today visitors can admire his collection of antiques, works of art and religious objects. The property is located by the canal and consists of six charming houses made of traditional teak, surrounded by a lush green garden. You can also enjoy the greenery in Lumphina Park, where you can take a break from the concrete jungle that is Bangkok. The park, which has earned the title "Central Park of Bangkok", is named after the Nepalese birthplace of the Buddha.

One of the parks where you should rest when visiting the Thai capital is Benchakitti with a museum, an amphitheater, sports facilities and a mango grove. When visiting Bangkok, don't miss the main attraction - The Grand Palace. It was formed in 1782, when Bangkok also became the capital of Thailand. The magnificent palace impresses with its architecture and temples, although the Thai royal family moved out of it in 1925, it remains an extremely important building in the capital.

The temples should not be overlooked either. Visit Wat Pho, where you can find a huge Buddha sculpture, the largest in the country. It occupies every centimeter of the building and allows visitors to see the golden statue from every angle. Wat Arun is one of the most famous Thai temples, located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. From the temple there is a beautiful view of the city and the river, and at night the temple complex is reflected in a golden color. But to not only mention temples, let's look at some more modern tourist attractions. Chatuchak market, known locally as JJ Market, is famous for more than 15,000 stalls and is one of the largest outdoor markets in the world. Here you can find everything you can imagine. From interior products to clothing, art and kitchenware. Even live animals.

You will be no less impressed even when you visit Chinatown, with exceptional street food, temples and street art, which is a real attraction of Bangkok. It is one of the largest Chinatowns in the world. But to get a better insight into the life of the city, visit one of the bars on the roof, from where there is a beautiful view of the city. Among the most famous is the Sirocco Skybar, which could also be seen in the sequel to the movie Hangover.
