Big band RTV Slovenia is preparing a concert for jazz connoisseurs in early March.
The Big Band of RTV Slovenia will be joined at the concert this time by two eminent soloists: a guitarist Mike Stern and Chris Minh Doky, double bass player and bass guitarist.
In the first set, we will hear Doky's music in arrangements for a jazz orchestra. In recent years, Doky has been one of the most sought-after jazz bassists in the world. He has worked with musicians such as Michael Brecker, David Sanborn, Al Jarreau, Randy Brecker, Kenny Garrett, Chris Potter, John Scofield, Toots Thielemans, and currently a member of the Mike Stern Band.
In the second set, the legendary Mike Stern, certainly one of the greatest guitarists on the modern jazz scene, will join the orchestra. His career has only skyrocketed since attending Berklee College of Music. Some stations from his rich career: Blood Sweat and Tears, Billy Cobham, Miles Davis, Jaco Pastorius, Michael Brecker, Yellowjackets, Daviod Sanborn, Steps Ahead. The program will include Stern's compositions.
Both musicians will join the Big Band of RTV Slovenia a week before the concert, so we expect well-prepared, innovative and diverse, modern orchestral jazz.
