Bio Bus - British bus that runs on poo

The Bio Bus is the British version of the green vehicle, which started regular service between Bristol and Bath last week. It is the first environmentally friendly vehicle powered exclusively by human excrement and food scraps.

Bio Bus is what might sound like science fiction to us: a bus that rides on our poop. As far-fetched as it all sounds, as of last week, the British 40-seater bus is completely real. It transports passengers from Bristol Airport to the center of Bath.

It is an environmentally friendly vehicle that drives it biomethane gas. This is produced during the treatment of sewage from toilets and food residues. The green bus, which is supposed to transport around 10,000 passengers per month, can travel 300 kilometers with one "tank", which uses the annual feces of about five people.

GENeco, which in Bristol produces the gas on which the Bio Bus runs by treating sewage, has also ensured that the emissions produced during the journey are practically completely odorless. The bus is thus truly environmentally friendly, and its passengers can entertain themselves while driving by thinking that they are riding thanks to – quite possibly – their own poo.
