The BMW i8 Roadster already teased eight years ago with its seductive lines and open roof. Now the moment has come for BMW to officially present the car that BMW enthusiasts have been quietly waiting for all these years. The BMW i8 Roadster is the much-anticipated electric convertible that boasts renewed technology and a stunning open design.
BMW i8 Roadster it has one of the most modern canvas retractable roofs. It opens and closes in amazing 16 seconds, and the electronics all work up to a speed of 49 km/h. The aluminum that connects the roof framework has been completely engineered with technology 3D printing, so that the individual parts fit together as well as possible. They also added ample insulation so that you can enjoy driving even with the roof closed. The roof folds into the space behind the driver, where the two rear seats used to be. Since there was a need to make room for the roof and since the rear seats were in most cases unused, they were removed to gain space for the roof, some storage space and an additional increased luggage space.
Not only the roof has changed, the powertrain has also been renewed. The BMW i8 Roadster and Coupe have the new eDrive system and lightweight design LifeDrive. The power that the new BMW i8 has is 369 horsepower, which is 12 horsepower more than the previous model. The BMW i8 Roadster weighs only 1,593 kilograms, which is only 60 kilograms more than the coupe. The battery capacity is 7.1 kWh increased to 11.6 kWh. The electric motor offers 141 horsepower and 249 Nm of torque, and with it we can travel 28 kilometers in fully electric driving mode. The internal combustion engine still remains 3- cylinder with 228 horsepower and 319 Nm of torque. BMW i8 Coupe needs from 0 to 100 km/h 4.2 seconds, and the i8 Roadster 4.4 seconds. The top speed of both is electronically limited to 249 km/h.

The BMW i8 Roadster also has some visual changes, most of which are found in the interior. The sports steering wheel, information display and 8.8-inch touch screen have been changed. On the outside, the bonnet has been slightly modified, which is now lower. The so-called kidneys have been changed and the bottom of the car, which is now completely flat. If we add to this combination brilliant new colors, we get a car that will be really hard to resist. The current BMW i8 still turns heads wherever it appears. We believe this will happen even more often with the new i8 Roadster.
