BMW iX3 2025: more than just electricity

Welcome to a world where BMW is no longer just the “ultimate driving machine” but also an electrified supercomputer on four wheels. The iX3 2025, revealed in test form at Miramas, is the first production derivative of the visionary Neue Klasse platform – and it promises to set new standards in motoring.

The Bavarians have invested decades of innovation into this project: literally, as 25 years of patent applications have now been realized in a single production vision – the iX3 xDrive50.

Range and power that eliminate the fear of electricity

With a range of up to 800 km according to WLTP (or 400 miles according to EPA) and the ability to add more than 350 km of range in just 10 minutes, BMW shows that it is ready to compete with – and overtake – Tesla, Hyundai and even Lucid. This is thanks to the 6th generation BMW eDrive with cylindrical battery cells (+20 % energy density) placed in the vehicle's skeleton itself. 400 kW charging speed? Sure. 800V architecture? Sure.

The iX3 will also be able to in Europe vehicle-to-load output (V2L) up to 3.7 kW, and with the new DC Wallbox device it can serve as power bank for your home (V2H) or even contributes to the electricity grid (V2G).

Four brains and one heart

The “Heart of Joy” system is not just a catchy marketing phrase – it’s a central computer that controls the engines, braking, recuperation and directional stability ten times faster than previous models. In practice, this means you can effortlessly drive through a bend or stop without your passengers knowing you’ve braked.

Add to this the “Superbrain of Automated Driving” – with data processing 20 times faster than before – and you have a vehicle that can brake, turn and make decisions with more feel than many human drivers. The vehicle recognizes red lights, starts on its own, turns smoothly and anticipates traffic situations using radar and cameras.

Panoramic vision, literally

BMW Panoramic iDrive is a complete cabin revolution. A display stretches from A-pillar to A-pillar, projecting key information directly onto the windscreen. Add the 3D Head-Up Display, a central display with matrix lighting and a steering wheel with haptics – and you have the most futuristic infotainment ever.

Operating System X enables real-time updates, AI analysis of driving habits, and a personal assistant that not only reads the weather but also suggests when to charge your vehicle – and even opens the charging cap itself if it detects you're approaching a known charging station.

Smart driving made intuitive

Lane assist, exit warnings, automatic lane changes, city driving assistance and even cooperative braking – the iX3 does all this unobtrusively and in harmony with the driver. And if you signal with your eyes that you want to change lanes? The car turns on its own. Another myth about BMW drivers is finally buried.

Conclusion: Is the iX3 the future we want?

If everything the Bavarians showed on the test track in France is true – then the BMW iX3 2025 is more than “just another electric SUV”. It is a declaration that BMW is ready for a world without compromises: no exhaust fumes, no jerky brakes and no loss of driving pleasure.

The price to enter this world? Still unknown, but we can expect at least 70,000 EUR base price. What about the competition? Audi Q6 e-tron, Mercedes EQE SUV and Tesla Model Y should watch out - the future is clearly with pale blue lighting and four "super brains".

If the BMW iX3 2025 doesn't convince you, then maybe the problem isn't you – it's your idea of what "driving with pleasure" means in 2025.
