The BMW iX 2025 responds to past criticisms. When BMW introduced the iX in 2022, the response was extremely mixed. Some celebrated it as a turning point in electric mobility, while others had serious concerns - especially about its bold design. The front grille, which is part of BMW's modern identity, has become a target of criticism, with some calling it "too big", "unesthetic" and even "inconsistent with the brand's tradition". Many automotive journalists also pointed out that, despite its innovation, BMW should retain certain classic design elements that fans of the brand have come to expect.
With model year 2025 – BMW iX 2025 – BMW has responded to these criticisms with a more refined design, improved aerodynamics and increased range. All while maintaining the core philosophy of the iX – premium electric mobility with a touch of prestige.
A revised form that now really works on the new BMW iX 2025
One of the biggest changes to the new BMW iX is a subtle but significant transformation of the exterior. While the overall design language remains recognizable, certain elements are now better balanced. The kidney grille is still large, but thanks to new vertical lines and the integrated BMW Iconic Glow lighting, it looks more refined and less aggressive. The revised LED headlights, which now include vertical daytime running lights, give the car a more “focused” look, while the rear is visually more compact and harmoniously designed.
Perhaps the most important exterior improvement BMW iX 2025 is a new aerodynamic design that contributes to greater efficiency. Air resistance has been reduced, which in practice means less energy consumption at higher speeds and consequently better range. BMW also now offers a wider range of colors that add a touch of exclusivity - among them stand out Arctic Race Blue, Dune Grey and BMW Individual Frozen Pure Grey.
Electric drive that now sets new standards
The BMW iX already offered impressive figures in its previous version, but now they have been further refined. The iX xDrive45 has a 94.8 kWh battery, which gives it a range of up to 602 kilometers (374 miles) according to the WLTP standard. Even more impressive is the iX xDrive60, which with a 109.1 kWh battery achieves an incredible 701 kilometers (435 miles) of range – putting it at the top of the electric SUV spectrum. The most powerful version, the iX M70 xDrive, is a real electric monster: 485 kW (659 hp), acceleration to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.8 seconds and a torque of 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft) in Launch Control mode.
The recuperation technology has also been improved for all models, meaning that energy regeneration during braking is more efficient, contributing to a longer range. The charging system has also been upgraded - the iX can now reach up to 195 kW at a fast charger, meaning it can charge the battery from 10 % to 80 % in less than 40 minutes. AC charging has also been upgraded to 22 kWH, meaning that the huge battery can be charged at home in just 6 hours.
The interior where comfort and technology merge into one in the new BMW iX 2025
BMW has always been known for its ability to create interiors that combine ergonomics, luxury and cutting-edge technology. The new iX is no exception. The most notable new feature is the improved version of the BMW Curved Display, which combines the digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen into one. The BMW iDrive 8.5 system now offers more intuitive operation, including video streaming and even the ability to play games during charging stops.
The materials are even more refined – in addition to the optional leather seats, BMW now also offers versions with environmentally friendly materials, including recycled fabrics and sustainable textiles. There are also new M sports seats, which, in addition to superior lateral support, also offer additional massage functions.
Sound insulation has also undergone significant improvements. BMW now uses foam in the tires to reduce road noise, and improved acoustic materials in the cabin, meaning that driving in the new iX is almost inaudibly quiet – even at higher speeds.
Returning to the game and raising standards
Although he was the first BMW iX 2025 In many ways, the pioneer of electric mobility also had its shortcomings. BMW has now addressed these shortcomings and created an electric SUV that not only outpaces the competition, but also poses a serious challenge to it in many ways.
With increased range, improved aerodynamics, a refined design and technological improvements, the new iX 2025 is better in every way. Price? If you have €90,000 or more, you can start seriously considering having one in your garage. And if you're interested in the top version, the M70 xDrive, you'll have to come up with a little more.
If you were put off by the previous generation iX's design quirks or technical compromises, now is the time to give it another chance. BMW has shown that it listens to criticism and can turn it into an opportunity. The new iX is the ultimate blend of power, range and prestige – and now it seems that BMW has truly found the right formula for the electric future.
