The most revved-up version of the M4 has arrived, the BMW M4 CSL. The powerful and slimmed-down coupe is the latest acquisition among the M sports models, which are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year.
New ones BMW M4 CSL will be a very exclusive model as it will only be available 1,000 copies. The M4 CSL is an upgrade of the current M4 Competition model and at the same time the fastest production BMW that has ever lapped the famous Nürnurgring Nordschleife track. He only needed one round 7:20,2 minutes.
The visual changes are intended only to upgrade performance, and the function of the front part of the car is to ensure maximum air flow and create the greatest possible force that ``sticks'' the car to the asphalt. The new M4 has a cooling-heating system that ensures that the components always have an optimal operating temperature when we drive on the road or race around the track.
The BMW M4 CSL has under the hood 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine that has 550 (405 kW) horsepower, 40 horsepower more than the M4 Competition and 649 newton meters of torque. It takes care of power transmission to the rear wheel pair 8-speed M Steptronic gearbox with Drivelogic function. The driver can take control of the shifting and select the lowest possible gear by simply pressing the steering wheel-mounted ʺgear leverʺ. When the transmission is in ``manual'' mode and the car is accelerating, the transmission will not force the driver to use a higher gear. The BMW M4 CSL needs from 0 to 100 km/h merely 3.7 seconds, and its top speed is electronically limited to 307 km/h.
The BMW M4 CSL lost quite a bit 108.8 kilograms, and its weight is now 1,605 kilograms. On the ʺdietʺ, the sportsman lost the rear seats, lighter material was used for sound insulation, many parts of the exterior and interior are made of plastic, which is reinforced with carbon fibers, and some parts of the exhaust system are made of titanium. The use of carbon-ceramic brakes, the use of lighter materials for the production of ʺkidneysʺ and rear lights, and even the carpets in the car are lighter.
A significant part of the weight loss was contributed by the M Carbon sports seats, which are lighter than normal seats by as much as 24 kilograms. These are seats that were developed with runway driving in mind. The seats do not have lumbar support, electronic seat adjustment, and they do not even have heating. Only this will be available at the customer's request, if they find the sports seats too extreme. To move forward and backward, the driver has a classic lever at his disposal, while adjusting the height will require a ʺservice interventionʺ in the workshop. Since the M4 CSL does not have rear seats, there will be room to store two helmets. The new BMW M4 CSL won't be cheap, and it will be available to order this month in July.
