BMW has once again pushed the boundaries in the high-performance wagon segment with the introduction of the new M5 Touring. Despite the estimated weight of approximately 2,506 kilograms, the manufacturer found a way to infuse the vehicle with a sense of lightness by using carbon fiber from the M Performance series. These exclusive accessories are not available in the regular online configurator, but can be ordered directly from authorized dealers.

New version BMW M5 Touring it follows in the footsteps of the sedan version, which was also enriched with a few months ago M Performance accessories. The most noticeable changes include the front spoiler and rear diffuser in a split design, giving the vehicle an even more aggressive and sporty look. The side parts of the vehicle are emphasized with additional carbon sills, which emphasize the width and dynamics of the vehicle.

Carbon wing mirror caps are available as a standard option without having to fork out M Performance packages. While the M5 Touring won't offer a carbon roof—like the smaller M3 Touring—that doesn't diminish its appeal. The vehicle's interior remains top-notch, with the option to upgrade with premium leather-trimmed carpets and contrasting stitching in the signature three M colors.

Among the other exclusive accessories is also carbon fuel tank cap, which, according to BMW, "turns every filling into a small racing stop". The roof antenna is made of aramid, a material with similar properties to carbon fiber that is widely used in the aerospace and military industries for its exceptional strength and lightness.

Although the prices of these accessories have not yet been revealed, it is clear that they will represent an additional cost to the already prestigious vehicle. The base model BMW M5 Touring in Europe starts at approx 120,000 euros (about $122,675), which puts it in direct competition with the Audi RS6 Avant, which costs around 125,000 euros (about $127,000). Before it was retired, the Mercedes-AMG E63 S Wagon cost almost the same as new M5 Touring. The next generation from Affalterbach is expected to be even more expensive.

BMW has hinted that if there is sufficient demand for the M5 Touring, it could open the door for the M3 Touring to come to the US market as well. The current generation M3 Touring is not available in the US due to high homologation costs and the absence of a standard wagon version of the 3 Series.

Conclusion

The BMW M5 Touring with M Performance accessories represents the pinnacle of combining performance, elegance and practicality. With its carbon accents and exclusive accessories, it is intended for those who want to stand out and at the same time enjoy the unrivaled driving experience offered by the BMW M series.
