BMW is no longer a sideline player – it now wants to direct the electric future. The BMW iX5 and iX7 come straight from the USA and promise to revolutionize the luxury SUV story.

Imagine being in the middle of the American prairie, with no V8s roaring beneath you, but a new era of electric power whispering softly. BMW moves to the USA, invests and starts a new chapter. Starring? Two SUVs with electricity in their veins – BMW iX5 and iX7.

At a time when many automotive giants are still tossing and turning between the fossil and electric worlds, BMW is not waiting any longer. With a 1.53 billion euro investment, it is moving to the heart of automotive America – South Carolina. It is modernizing the Spartanburg factory with a billion euros, and an additional 631 million is going to a completely new battery sanctuary in Woodruff. So BMW will do everything in the USA.

This is not just an investment. It is a declaration of independence from European bureaucracy and Chinese battery hegemony.

iX5: the first shot to be fired in 2026

The electric iX5 will be the first fruit of this revolution. It will be based on the familiar CLAR platform, to which BMW breathes a new soul – technologies from the futuristic Neue Klasse. This means 800-volt architecture, a new generation of e-motors, less weight, more range and brutal acceleration.

And although the details are still hidden in the shadows, there are rumors of 700+ horsepower (522+ kW), a range of around 700 kilometers (435 miles), and charging faster than you can scroll through TikTok.

iX7: an electric mastodon with three kinds of passion

In 2027, an even bigger brother will follow – the iX7. An SUV that will carry three rows of seats, six to seven passengers and the capacity to dominate American asphalt. Its goal? The Cadillac Escalade IQ and everything that smells of premium glitz on four wheels.

With a range of nearly 800 km (497 miles), a power output of over 800 hp (588 kW), and technology from the deepest laboratory imagination, the iX7 may be the first BMW to have the soul of a Maybach and the wit of a Tesla – without the bad joke at the end.

Technological Manifesto: Neue Klasse

But the real joker in this game is Neue Klasse – a new line of batteries, inverters and software. The new cylindrical battery architecture delivers 30 % more range, 30 % faster charging and up to 50 % less loss. Silicon carbide? Yes. 800-volt architecture? Standard. Artificial intelligence that learns your driving style? Absolutely.

This is not just “electrification.” This is a redefinition of what a car means. What it means to drive. What it means to feel.

Strategy: think globally, produce locally

BMW has been consistently outperforming Tesla in Europe for the past year. But now it wants to do the same on Tesla's home turf. Moving production to the US isn't just an economic decision—it's a declaration of war on automotive stereotypes and geopolitical constraints.

Producing EV models locally means greater resilience to trade wars, lower taxes and... let's face it, better subsidies.

Conclusion

The BMW iX5 and iX7 are not just cars. They are a manifesto of a new philosophy. The former with power that promises an adrenaline rush without a drop of gasoline. The latter with comfort that doesn't need noise to command attention. And both - made in America, backed by German engineering passion and designed with the future in mind.

Price? Of course, they'll be expensive. But BMW doesn't sell by numbers - it sells by emotions. And in this case, every euro (or dollar) will be worth the electrified sigh that comes with the pedal.

BMW is already making interesting electric SUVs today. That's why we're looking forward to the future.

So if the future is electric SUVs – then the name of that future starts with two letters: iX.
