As everyday life dictates its own rules and its own pace, we become more and more alienated and restless within ourselves. Surrounded by an excess of information, noise and concrete, we slowly forget the laws of nature and its hidden power. We become eternal hunters of time and seekers of happiness in momentary gratifications while life rushes past us. Many times the solution is simpler than it looks, and we can look at things differently if we step away from our daily routine and let nature work its magic on us. Therefore, let your worries and dissatisfaction stay at home, and we drive towards Škofja Loka, to the village of Gorenje and further to Cerkne, known to many for its ski center and jazz festival. But right now there is no time for any of the above, so let this place caught in green peace, with the river Idrijca on the side, be our first stop for morning coffee. For additional pleasure, Hotel Cerkno will provide you with one of Cerkno's culinary specialties - potica made from dried fruit and honey. Among other things, the hotel is famous for its large thermal pool, which is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 4 to 10 p.m. and on Sundays from 3 to 9 p.m. We should remember this when we return from the trip.

Our route takes us further to the compact settlement of Most na Soča, at the confluence of the Soča and Idrijca rivers, which is known, among other things, for the competition for the World Cup in high jumps and the beautiful reservoir lake. The settlement is also one of the stops of the museum train that goes from Jesenice to Nova Gorica, so one of the interesting adventures is also a ride on the museum train at the mentioned destination. But regardless of how we get to this place, we will not be bored in any way, as it is characterized by exceptional archaeological finds, which make the place famous as one of the most important prehistoric settlements in the world. Its location and favorable climatic conditions enabled the development of the first settlement already in prehistoric times. Rich finds from the Younger Bronze Age prove that the place was inhabited already at that time, although, judging by the rich finds from the Iron Age, the settlement experienced its greatest prosperity only at that time. The place also played an important cultural and political role in the Roman Empire. We will learn more about all of this in one place at the Most na Soča Archaeological Museum. But we can turn back time and gain more knowledge if we find an information point in the city center, near Nova KBM, which will direct us along a cultural-historical route past 22 well-arranged points equipped with information panels and niches with replicas of archaeological finds . A walk along Kosmač's learning trail, if we turn right from the train station, will expand our cultural background and take us along the well-marked footpath in two hours past famous points to the birthplace of the writer Cirilo Kosmač. The home of Ciril Kosmač, one of the most prominent Slovenian writers, is an ethnological monument from the end of the 19th century. The ground floor is dedicated to the display of residential culture, while the attic spaces present Kosmac's personality and his literary creative path. When we return to the city center, let's remember it's time for lunch and stop at Gostilna pri Štefanu, where the specialties are trout à la Štefan, Tolmin cheese and venison. Then we catch the rest of the afternoon ahead of us.
Green - blue
A walk around the lake, which today is the main decoration of the Soča Bridge, allows you to sit on the benches and admire its unique color, which changes into different shades depending on the season and weather conditions. It is also possible to go down the lake with the Lucija boat. This is an almost 30 m long river boat powered by a water wheel, similar to steamboats that sailed on American rivers in the 19th century. The beauty of the lake can also be observed from another perspective, which is offered by the green garden of Bara Morea on the other side of the lake. In any case, there is no shortage of places to sit and admire the sunset in this area. But don't let the fairy tale end when we head back home. On the road between Podbrdo and the Petrovo Brda pass, on the route between Most na Soča and Škofja Loka, do not miss Brunarica Slap with fish farming and fish sales. If we haven't stopped at Štefan's before and to convince ourselves of the deliciousness of these fish, we order freshly baked trout and end the day with a crunchy bite between our teeth.
