BYD is no longer playing around. At the 2025 Shanghai Motor Show, they showed off the Dynasty D, a concept SUV that is not just a megalomaniac Chinese invention, but a serious blow to all European premium brands – especially the Audi Q8.
If you thought they were Chinese cars still just “cheap alternatives”, get ready for a cold shower. BYD Dynasty D is anything but that. Huge, confident, full of details that scream “we’re in charge now!” And yes, it has suicide doors. Because why not?
Bigger than your ego – this is the BYD Dynasty D
BYD Dynasty D is a behemoth: 5.3 meters long (209 inches) and 23-inch (58.4 cm) wheels. But the real show starts at the front: a 2.4-meter-long light strip across the entire width of the vehicle. Driving at night? You look more like a runway than a car.
Side lines inspired by artistic brushstrokes give this massive body an elegance that is striking. At the rear? 3D lights in the shape of traditional Chinese knots and phoenix wings. You know right away that the Dynasty D is not just another “sterile” SUV – but a veritable cultural manifesto on wheels.
Oh, and the most “crazy” detail: suicide door (suicide doors)! It's immediately clear that BYD is aiming straight at the heart of Audi's pride - the Q8.
Luxury with bamboo and gold
The interior of the BYD Dynasty D is, without exaggeration, like entering a modern Chinese temple of peace. Bamboo, hand-applied gold leaf, traditional paper art techniques – but all in a sophisticated “high-tech” ambience.
Eight large screens (no, that's not a typo – eight!) spread across the dashboard, responding to your mood, driving style and probably your zodiac sign, if they happen to think of it. It's a combination of Zen aesthetics and digital hyperproduction.
The future is electric, or hybrid
Although BYD has not yet officially confirmed all the technical details, we do know that the Dynasty D will almost certainly come with two powertrain options:
- Super Dual Mode Hybrid: for those who still like to drink a little gasoline.
- E-Platform 3.0 Evo: a purely electric future with probably more than 800 km of range (official data still to come).
Both options promise brutal performance, ultra-fast charging, and all sorts of advanced driver assistance systems. We expect nothing less than Tesla-killer performance – but with more style.
BYD Dynasty D doesn't inflate, BYD rips
The Dynasty D isn't just another futuristic concept you'll only see on Instagram. No, BYD is sending a clear message: "We come and take everything you like.”
Audi Q8? BMW X7? Mercedes-Benz GLS? Look at Dynasty D and ask yourself how long European manufacturers will be able to comfortably sell their “traditions”.
If the Dynasty D's price is positioned realistically (it is rumored to be significantly lower than the German competition), then premium SUVs in the West will have a serious, serious problem.
