The Japanese impress us again! This time with the smart protective mask C-mask, which converts speech into text and also translates into eight languages!
Among the many changes brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, wearing a protective mask is the one that has received the most attention from designers and companies around the world. Over the past months, we have seen various proposals, including transparent masks and masks made of biodegradable materials, which are created with a better tomorrow in mind. Well, now we've also got a mask that can connect to the internet!
C-mask is a new protective mask coming from Japanese startup Donut Robotics. It can record conversations, them with help Bluetooth turns it into text messages, along with translates Japanese into eight other languages: English, Chinese, French, Korean, Thai, Indonesian, Spanish and Vietnamese. It can also be used to manage calls or to increase the volume of the user's voice, which is very useful, because wearing a protective mask can sometimes hinder our speech.
At Donut Robotics, they redefined the face mask by adding internet connectivity, a voice amplifier and a translator. Users will simply connect the mask over their face and connect it to a smart device with a special application. The company is currently raising funds on the “Japanese Kickstarter”, a platform Fundinno, where more than 260 thousand euros have been collected so far. The masks are expected to go on sale in Japan this September at a price of approx 37 euros. The company wants to spread its innovation all over the world, including Europe!
