The Cannes Film Festival is an international film festival that is considered one of the most important and famous in the world. It belongs to the group of the most prestigious festivals, together with the festivals in Berlin and Venice.
Cannes, in addition to bringing together all layers of the film industry, remained one of those places and events that carry with them a touch of old glamour, Hollywood luxury, regardless of what they thought of it and what they called it. French Riviera, daily premieres of blockbusters and indie films about to gain worldwide fame, red carpet, lots of networking and high fashion. Films screened in Cannes have already achieved great success by entering the festival.
We have prepared some movie titles that will, without a doubt, fill our cinemas. These are the most interesting films screened at Cannes, which we will be talking about a lot more this year.
The French Dispatch
The film is described as “a love letter to journalists, set in an American newspaper outpost in a fictional French town of the 20th century”, focusing on three stories. It brings to life a collection of fairy tales published in The French Dispatch of the same name, based in the fictional French town of Ennui-sur-Blasé. The film stars Bill Murray, Timothee Chalamet, Frances McDormand, Elisabeth Moss, Jeff Goldblum, Tilda Swinton, Lea Seydoux, Owen Wilson, Benicio del Toro, Adrien Brody and Saoirse Ronan are just some of the actors appearing in the film. The cult director's tenth film is one of the most anticipated films of the year.
Annette
The musical Annette is one of our most interesting films this summer. It is a surreal musical starring Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard. The film follows a provocative stand-up comedian (Driver) and his wife, a world-famous soprano (Cotillard). Their glamorous, unpredictable life will be completely turned upside down with the arrival of their daughter Annette.
Memoria
Tilda Swinton is the lead actress and executive producer of Memoria. In the film, she plays a Scottish woman who goes to visit her sister in Colombia. During her visit, she begins to hear strange noises that instill fear in her, but also an obsession to find their cause and source.
Bergman Island
This visually impressive drama follows an American couple who travel to the island of Fårö to be inspired by the places where the iconic Ingmar Bergman was born and died. Both are writing screenplays for upcoming movies, but as the summer progresses and their scripts grow more extensive, the line between fiction and reality becomes thinner.
Mothering Sunday
A maid living in post-World War I England secretly plans to meet the man she loves before he leaves to marry another woman. Mothering Sunday is a British drama film directed by Eva Husson, written by Alice Birch and based on Graham Swift's novel of the same name. It stars Odessa Young, Josh O'Connor, Olivia Colman and Colin Firth.
