Capricorn 01 Zagato: born for the driver in the age of digital supremacy

Analogy between megawatts — 19 copies, one for yours (if you have the money and courage)

In a world where screens, assistants and digital safety systems have become a given, the Capricorn 01 Zagato enters as a challenge: “What if it were different again?” This car is not a flashy exhibition of technology, but a meditation on driving force, aesthetics, the hand that grips the steering wheel and the soul that feels the pressure in the asphalt.

Under the hood Capricorn 01 Zagato is hiding 5.2-liter supercharged V8, located in the middle. It produces impressive 888 horsepower (662 kW) and around 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque. All this power goes exclusively to the rear wheels via 5-speed manual transmission with an old-school “dog-leg” layout – first gear at the bottom left, like in real race cars.

The result? Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (0–62 mph) in less than 3 seconds and maximum speed around 360 km/h (224 mph)Zagato has thus created a car that shies away from the formulas of electric efficiency and hybrid assistance – preferring to trust human reflexes and the will to control.

Design: retro soul, carbon body

If “beauty” were measured in kilograms, the Capricorn 01 Zagato would be underweight. The body is made almost entirely of carbon fiber, so the entire car weighs less than 1,200 kilograms (2,645 lb)The double “bubble” on the roof – Zagat’s trademark – is not just a design signature, but a tribute to a classic that dates back to the 1950s.

Zagato didn't go the way of spectacle. There are no huge wings, no superfluous curves. The aerodynamics are hidden in the bottom - diffusers and hidden ducts create downforce without the car showing its muscles. The result is an elegance that breathes through proportions, not aggression.

Interior: a temple for the driver: Capricorn 01 Zagato

If you were expecting a digital display or a voice assistant, you're in the wrong car. Here you'll find analog gauges, aluminum and titanium switches, and a smell Connolly leather and AlcantaraNo infotainment system, just a clean space that forces you to look at the road, not the screen.

The seats are fixed – your back adapts to the car, not the other way around. Instead, you can adjust steering wheel, pedals and even the gear lever, which can be moved a few centimeters forward or backward. It is raw but precise. Minimalism that does not seek attention, but focus.

Mechanics: tailored to passion – this is also the Capricorn 01 Zagato

The chassis is classic racing: double A-arm (double wishbone) front and rear, with Bilstein shock absorbers and three settings – Comfort, Sport, Track. The brakes are carbon-ceramic with 6-piston calipers, providing brutal braking power and minimal fading at high speeds.

The steering mechanism only uses electric assistance at low speeds – but once you exceed 80 km/h (50 mph), the electricity disappears and only direct contact between the steering wheel and the tire remains. It's a feeling that modern cars have long hidden behind layers of algorithms.

Exclusive: 19 copies, none alike

Zagato and Capricorn have created something rare together – literally. Only one will be built. 19 cars, symbolically reflecting the year Zagato was founded – 1919. Each example will be hand-built in Germany, at Capricorn's plant near the Nürburgring, and customized to the customer's wishes.

First deliveries are scheduled for first half of 2026, and the price is around €2.95 million ($3.1 million) – before you even start thinking about taxes.

Conclusion: Analog resistance in the digital era

The Capricorn 01 Zagato is not a car for people looking for comfort, quietness, or Apple CarPlay. It's a machine for people who understand the sound of metal, the feel of a transmission shake, and the fine line between control and madness.

In a world where cars drive themselves, this Zagato demands that you drive. And if you still have a bit of petrol in your blood, it will sound like a song of freedom – screaming, mechanical and wonderfully human.
