In the era of smart watches that act like mini computers on the wrist, Casio decides to take a completely different direction. Introducing the CA-53WB, a calculator watch inspired by the legendary Casio Mini - the world's first personal calculator from 1972. The result? A combination of retro aesthetics and modern features that will delight nostalgics and technology lovers.

In 1972 Casio redefined personal computing with the Mini model, as it made the calculator accessible to a wider range of people for the first time. The device was four times smaller than the standard models of the time and extremely popular - as many as six million units were sold in a few years.

Calculator watches started their story only in the 80s, with Casio presenting its first C-80 model in 1980. But the real icon became the series CA-53, which set the standard with its performance in 1988. This watch even graced Marty McFly's wrist in the movie Back to the Future II, which only increased her cult status.

Design and functionality

A new one Casio CA-53WB is available in three colors – black, ivory and blue-green – with each color derived from the original Casio Mini calculator range. The blue-green color is particularly reminiscent of the digital font that glowed on the black screens of the original calculator.

The negative LCD displays grayish-green numbers, and the keyboard has the same font and grid lines as the old Mini. The red indicator on the top right corner of the keyboard mimics the red power light that was characteristic of the calculator. The case of the watch is made of bio-resin, and its dimensions are 43.2 x 34.4 mm and thickness is 8.2 mm - almost identical dimensions to the original CA-53.

In addition to the calculator, the watch also offers a stopwatch, a display of two time zones, an alarm and a waterproof housing for minor splashes. The calculator allows you to enter up to eight numbers, which is quite enough for quick daily calculations.

Price and availability

The CA-53WB's best feature? Its price – only 36 dollars / 39 euros! That means you can get all three versions for just over $100. It will be available at the end of this month, and you can already sign up to be notified of the start of sales on the Casio website.

Conclusion

Casio CA-53WB it's not just a watch. It is a tribute to technological history and proof that the past can inspire the future. Combining the essence of the 1972 Casio Mini with contemporary trends, Casio appeals to both technology enthusiasts as those whose heart beats for retro design. And all this for a price that is more than a calculation - a real win.
