Celebrating 55 years this year, the Seiko Prospex Speedtimer is considered to be the world's first automatic chronograph, introduced in 1969. With its column wheel and vertical clutch technology, this watch set new standards for timekeeping precision. Over the years, the Speedtimer has skillfully combined classic and modern design, keeping it at the forefront of watch lovers who appreciate both tradition and innovation.
As part of its Prospex collection, which often serves up limited editions, Seiko elegantly navigates affordability and luxury with the Speedtimer. Latest editions from the collection Prospex Speedtimer Solar The Chronographs are particularly interesting, drawing inspiration from Seiko's rich history of sports chronographs associated with motoring.
Technical details and a design that impresses
The new models are powered by the V192 solar movement, which is a real rarity in the chronograph world and provides up to six months of operation on a single charge in the sun. The watches are equipped with tachymetric bezels that measure speed and hands reminiscent of the original model from 1969. The stainless steel case measures 41.4 mm in diameter, adding a modern touch to the classic look.
A collection with the spirit of the 70s
Each model from the new collection reflects a certain aspect of the automotive culture of the 1970s. The “Grand Touring” version features a navy blue aluminum bezel, a dark gray dial and a cream bezel, giving the watch an elegant European look. The “Circuit Race” model combines black and gold for the ultimate expression of racing aesthetics, while the “Racing Sports” stands out with its dark green bezel and black leather strap, bringing nostalgia for the old racing days.
