CES 2019: Novus, the dream minimalist electric bike

There are a lot of novelties at the annual CES 2019, but we were especially attracted by the minimalistic Novus, which is a hybrid between an electric bicycle and an electric motorcycle.

German company Novus is at the fair CES 2019 introduced the electrical idea of the same name, which hybrid between an electric motorcycle and an electric bicycle. The Novus design is extraordinary easy and minimalistic designed. Novus was conceived by industrial designers René Renger and Marcus Weidig, who wanted to create a new type of electric bicycle.

The first thing we notice about Novus is his minimalism. Most of the things needed to operate an electric bike are hidden in the frame, which is made of one piece and connects the front and back. The rear suspension, which uses air dampers, is also integrated into the bike's frame. The wheel is activated by pressing the lever, which is located in a place where it would otherwise be found fuel tank.

It drives an electric bike electric motor with 19 horsepower, which provides 200 newton meters of torque and is located in the rear wheel. The entire bike weighs just 38.5 kilograms. To charge the battery from 0-80% we need around hour time. Novus' top speed is 100 km/h and can take us 100 kilometers far away. The battery is also mounted in the frame of the bike. The Novus is currently still in the concept version, but even when it goes into series production, it won't be cheap. The price of the bike is over 30,000 euros, which, despite the minimalism and pleasing numbers, is a lot.
