Welcome to the world of electric mobility where China leads the way! According to a recent survey by the German ZSW institute, China has become the most important market for electric cars, with as many as 14.6 million electric vehicles on the road, accounting for as many as 53% of all electric cars in the world. And this number continues to grow, thanks to the government's support measures and the attractive prices of electric vehicles.
Among electric vehicle manufacturers, Tesla remains the queen of the game, as last year they registered just 3.6 million new Tesla vehicles. However, the door is also wide open for the Chinese giant BYD (Build Your Dreams), which recorded a remarkable 3.3 million new vehicle registrations and is quickly catching up with Tesla. The third place is occupied by the Chinese manufacturer SAIC with 2.4 million registrations, while the German giants Volkswagen and BMW are struggling to keep up with 2.3 million and 1.3 million electric vehicle registrations.
The leading models of electric cars in the world are also from the Tesla family of vehicles. The Model 3 drives around the world in 1.8 million units, while the Model Y has recorded 1.2 million registrations. Tesla obviously still dominates this field, but the competition from China is extremely strong and interesting, with a diverse range of electric vehicles covering all classes, from the smallest to luxury and performance cars.
China's electric vehicle revolution shows no signs of slowing down, on the contrary, it is becoming even stronger and more attractive to electric vehicle users around the world. The telling numbers fill us with the belief that the electric future is here and now, with the explosion of e-mobility on China's roads led by giants like Tesla and BYD.
