Ingredients

  • ½ fresh red chili
  • 1 lime
  • 1 clementine
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3–4 cloves
  • a few pink peppercorns
  • a sprig of fresh rosemary
  • 700 ml vodka
  • ½ pomegranate (25 ml juice)
  • 40 ml vodka
  • 10 ml triple sec
  • 15 ml lime juice (optional)
  • orange peel for decoration

Directions

  1. Remove the seeds from the chili, then use a peeler to cut three strips of the peel from each fruit (lime, clementine, and lemon).
  2. Heat all the spices in a dry frying pan over medium heat until aromatic.
  3. Once the spices have cooled slightly, carefully place them in the vodka bottle. If you need help, you can use a chopstick to push all the spices into the bottle.
  4. Let the vodka sit for at least three days so that it is well infused with the spices.
  5. Cut the pomegranate in half and squeeze the juice through your fingers to obtain approximately 25 ml of fresh juice.
  6. Put ice in a shaker or large pitcher, then add pomegranate juice, Christmas vodka, triple sec, and lime juice.
  7. Shake or stir well, then strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a strip of orange peel, if desired.
If you don't have pomegranate on hand, you can use cranberry juice, which will also work wonderfully. To further impress your guests, freeze cranberries in ice cubes and add them to your cocktail for a festive decoration. Play around with additional spices like star anise, ginger, or bay leaves to infuse the vodka with new flavors.
