Who says watches from Switzerland, Japan or Germany are the only right choice for your wrist? With the Blue Planet II, CIGA Design from Shenzhen has proven that China is not just following, but setting new rules in the world of watchmaking. After winning the prestigious Geneva Grand Prix, they decided to raise the bar once again – this time with a blue Atlantic that just begs for exploration!
Forget boring dials – Blue Planet II Atlantic is literally a window to the world! The dial imitates the real contours of the Atlantic and neighboring continents in exact proportions. When you look at the watch, you can mentally embark on a journey from the Rocky Mountains to the Mediterranean, without even leaving your couch. And no, this is not a print – each watch is a real little work of art, for which the masters need more than 68 hours precise work!
How is such an epic dial created?
First, it's CNC-engraved, then protected with blue ink, engraved again to bring out the details, and finally sprayed with UV oil for that real "wow" effect. The result? A dial that Columbus would have been happy to admire if he were looking for a new route to America.
Bigger, more rounded, more planetary!
In the second generation they went even further – curvature of the planet is 36 % larger, and the domed sapphire crystal is 25 % more impressive. And because we know it can be hard to tell the time sometimes, they've also made the numbers bigger. If hunger or a desire for adventure wakes you up at night, the hands and compass will glow a vivid green and take you on a real time journey.
Time is read differently here!
Forget about classic indicators. Blue Planet II It uses the unique CD-04-E automatic movement and displays the time with a single reference compass. This rotates around a fixed hour wheel under a domed glass, while the inner minute wheel travels in tandem. A little orientation, a little magic, and you are the master of your time!
Housing for modern researchers
The clock has 46 mm A large case without the classic lugs, available in stainless steel or recycled titanium (because, hey, eco-consciousness is the new black!). At 17mm thick (yes, the dome counts) and water-resistant to 30m, it's suitable for urban explorers and raindrop lovers alike. The blue fluororubber strap? Just the finishing touch!
How much does a trip around the world cost?
For $1,199 / comparable euros You can get your hands on the Blue Planet II Atlantic on the official CIGA Design website. And no, it doesn't come with a plane ticket, but it does give you the feeling of having something that (almost) no one else has – and that's sometimes even better!
So, would you wear the world on your wrist? Blue Planet II is more than a watch – it’s a statement, a conversation piece over coffee, a reason to daydream, and the perfect choice for anyone who wants to be different.
