City Test: Peugeot RCZ-R – French racing machine

The RCZ is a car with a sign of extraordinary sex appeal, but this grows even higher in men's eyes when a member of this species realizes that in front of him is the expert RCZ-R, which transformed from a "lipstick", ordinary RCZ into a racing machine, only this has no real comparison in its price range. 270 horses from a 1.6 liter engine is a record that will make you laugh. 5.9 seconds to 100 km/h is enough to make you too fast most of the time.

And here, in fact, the loss of words on paper or digital media can only begin. These types of cars are extremely difficult to write about, as they simply need to be experienced. Peugeot RCZ-R is definitely one of those cars that will remain in the memory, but above all, the interesting fact is that it offers as much pleasure for a moderate investment as its more expensive German competitors. And in this segment it is RCZ-R an absolute winner.

The French they are remakes of the regular version RCZ undertaken in collaboration with their racing department Peugeot Sport, with which it is proverbially not good to bite cherries. They know and can produce great racing car. They took the engine of the regular version as a basis RCZ and performed ultra tuning on it, as only the best processors know. And that's how they squeezed everything out of the engine 170 of 'horses' on liter. With a volume of 1.6 liters, this means 270 horses and it sounds and feels great.

Tuning included, among other things, a larger turbocharger with better intake air cooling, a customized exhaust system, a new, more powerful and customized engine block with customized oil pans and pistons. And sweet digital little things with which they added good "optimized" features to the regular version 70 French horses. At the same time, they did not forget about safety and at the same time provided for an adapted chassis, which is a good centimeter lower than the normal version and racing brakes, which allow you to tame effectively RCZ-'s maddened horses. They leave brutal feelings for the driver as well they instill confidence and courage.

The engine enjoys, having a slight tense right legs and in cooperation with the left leaves excellent shifting sensations that is racing short and efficiently quickly. He likes to twirl and enjoys being driven high. His own true character engine points above 3.300 revolutions where he begins to breathe with full lungs. From there, a sound symphony of the sweetest kind ensues. The sound of the turbine is sweet… and most likely your better half's nightmare.

The chassis follows the engine perfectly and it is neutral and cooperates nicely with the steering mechanism, which gives a sufficient amount of feel on the ground, but we could find some room for improvement here. Zadek likes to be nervous, but on fun way and until the tires warm up to operating temperature and the RCZ-R settles into a corner very non-drillingly. But from him shoot faster as you drove into it.

The whole works extremely harmoniously and by no means cheap. The statement is also confirmed by the interior, which does not follow the attractiveness of the exterior in terms of design, but still has many details that stand out.

In the way we are used to with vehicles above the 100,000 euro mark. 19-inch wheels with discreet R-badge and racing bucket seats. Only a few visual details separate the R version from the classic version. But it is enough that it is a completely different story in cooperation with improved technique.

RCZ-R rests the strongest 1.6 liter turbo engine in the world and offers the most horses in a production vehicle Peugeot. But this pause is not really the main thing. What matters is the whole package, which works almost erotically with this car. Gentlemen who find themselves in a crisis of "feelings" and who will know how to squeeze that extra dynamism out of it will most likely use it. And also all those who value this kind of machines and have always dreamed of them.
