Batman Returns (Batman Returns, 1992)
Batman Returns is the sequel to the cultural phenomenon of Tim Burton's Batman. The sequel follows the hero as he battles Penguin and Catwoman during the Christmas holidays. The film earned quite a few greenbacks, but never came close to the brilliant success of the first one. It has received criticism that it is too dark and violent and contains too much sexuality.
A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas (2011)
A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas tells the story of two best friends, stricken of course, searching for a Christmas tree as the first one was destroyed in a fire. The third film in the series is known for excessive use of marijuana, crude humor, profanity and nudity. Although the film series is a cult classic, it would (probably) be unsuitable for children.
Go, 1999
Go follows supermarket workers and a drug dealer during the Christmas season, while their personal stories intertwine. The film received critical acclaim, both for its cast and humor. Although the film fits the season, it is still quite heavy on profanity, drug use and sexuality.
Die Hard and Die Hard 2 (Die Hard and Die Hard 2: Die Harder, 1988 and 1990)
Die Hard revolves around a New York City police officer who fights a group of highly trained terrorists in Los Angeles on Christmas Eve. Bruce Willis, who plays the iconic action hero, John McClane, was catapulted to stardom by the film. The sequel, Die Hard 2, also takes place on Christmas Eve; One year after the events in Los Angeles, John McClane is fighting terrorists at the Washington airport while waiting to pick up his wife. The films contain violence, some brutal murders and profanity.
Silent Night, Deadly Night, 1984
Silent Night, Deadly Night is a cult horror film and one of the most controversial Christmas movies of all time. The story revolves around Billy, who as a young boy saw his parents murdered by a man dressed as Santa Claus. When Billy grows up, he turns into a sick, sadistic killer himself and wears a Santa suit. The film caused a lot of controversy due to its gruesome scenes, gruesome violence and sexuality. Most of the controversy revolved around the fact that the film was advertised as a Christmas movie, and some people even protested. The film was eventually canceled in cinemas.
