Childbirth is painful, exhausting and not at all glamorous. But women all over the world apply make-up right before the wedding. And no, we're not talking about mascara or maybe covering dark circles, we're talking about a whole "facade" that's ready for Instagram.
It may sound bizarre, but research conducted at Cosmetify showed that 64 % women aged between 18 and 31 go before giving birth to beauty treatments. 65 % of them go to hair removal, 57 % to a manicure, 43 % to a pedicure, 37 % to a spray tan and 32 % to a hairdresser. Although grooming for this life transition is nothing new, women choose it for a variety of reasons.
The true image of childbirth has been stigmatized for centuries, and women have felt pressured to hide this image. And social media has added its weight. In the same survey, women were asked why do they care about their appearance during childbirth. Among the most common reasons were: that I look good in the photo (32 %), that I look good to all who will visit me (26 %), so she wouldn't look sick or tired (22 %). Another survey found that the average woman applies makeup two and a half hours before delivery. You can see the blogger in the photo below Alexis Jayda from California, who filmed a makeup tutorial while waiting to give birth.
Lee Ann Jarell she said that she "refused" to give birth, as her makeup was not yet complete.
For many women, the make-up ritual before childbirth served as a kind of ritual diverting attention from pain and contractions, while others opted for makeup for the sake of Instagram. Everyone agrees that it has to be pay attention to the products, which you apply. Would you do it too?
