The May Day holidays are approaching at the speed of light and it's time to start thinking about where to go for the May Day holidays. May Day trips can be short and sweet, but if time and finances allow, they can also be long... and sweet. Here are 10+ ideas for where to go on a trip for the May Day holidays.

Where to go on a trip for the May Day holidays? We have quite a few for you ideas for May Day trips, which will take you around Slovenia, Europe, and also to the other side of the world. In our collection "May Day trips" there is no shortage of fun!

Wander around Slovenia

Slovenia invites you! Discover the beauty of our little country. Despite its small size, we are sure that you have not yet fully discovered Slovenia.

Rafting in Kolpa

The suggestion of rafting down the Kolpa River will delight everyone who doesn't know where to go during the May Day holidays. Kolpa is said to be calm, especially in the lower part already a bit lazy, but if some more rain falls before the first of May, the experience will be downright adrenaline-filled. During the day, indulge in the current and rapids, paddle past pristine forests and stop for a sunny picnic on the bank. You can spend the evenings in the camp, but of course you will also find some hotel or farm tourism, where you will have a great dinner and a good refreshment.

A day on the Slovenian coast

In Koper, there are plenty of cozy bars where you can enjoy coffee and breakfast already in the morning. Filled with energy, you can head to Fiesa, where you can admire a beautiful view over the bay. The journey does not end here. You should also go for a delicious lunch in Piran, where, among other things, you can see displays of diving from its beginnings to the present day in the Piran Museum of Underwater Activities. To get the most out of your May Day break, visit the Sečovel Salt Flats Landscape Park, where you can watch birds and the Salt Works Museum, which shows the medieval method of salt production. You can also take a look inside the saltworks house. Where does the path end? Where you want. There are many beauties to explore. On your way home, don't forget to stop at the coast between Ankaran and Luka Koper, where you must visit the Shell Cemetery.

Solčava panoramic road

The Solčavska panoramic road leads through the pearls of Solčavsko's natural and cultural heritage with breathtaking views of dizzying peaks and beautiful valleys. There are high mountain farms along the way where you can stop and enjoy local delicacies. The 37-kilometer-long Solčava panoramic road can be accessed by car, motorcycle, bicycle, or on foot.

Hike from the Otliška window

The hiking trail will take you from the Pale sports park in Ajdovščina, past the karst spring of Hublja nad Ajdovščina, to the natural attraction Otliško okna, which offers an exceptional view of the Vipava Valley, the Karst and the Adriatic Sea. The well-marked trail, which runs through undemanding terrain, is also suitable for a family trip.

European cities

We don't have to go far to experience the mystery and magic of other cultures. It will be enough if we go to the following European cities, which are bubbling with relaxing city bustle and multicult content.

Berlin, Germany

Berlin has truly grown into a unique urban city that will delight you both with art and with its many sights and attractions. Use one of the days spent in Berlin to wander through Berlin's largest Grunewald forest, where you can have a picnic with friends and refresh yourself by one of the lovely lakes. You can travel back in time in the interactive DDR museum, where you can take a tour of the city in a famous Trabant. In addition to the remains of the Berlin Wall, which you must capture in a photographic lens, you can take a black-and-white "selfie" as a memory in Berlin's photo machines, and in the evening, dressed from head to toe, try out the dance floor of the crazy clubs there.

This year you can explore Tuscany - you don't need a plane ticket, just your own car to drive through the charming countryside all the way to Florence. Florence is absolutely magnificent, as many squares, museums, theaters and basilicas leave a breath of the past, exceptional art and culture. Peek among the lush vegetation of the Bardini Gardens, take a romantic stroll along the Arno River, see the Artemio Franchi Stadium where you might even catch a match with home club Fiorentina, and then relax on Sull'Arno Beach.

Bucharest, Romania

Bucharest is a wonderful destination mainly because it is not yet dominated by mass tourism - prices are quite low, and the city's pulse is authentic. It is considered the second cheapest capital city in Europe. When you're there, don't forget to see their parliament, which is so huge that it consumes around 6 million euros in electricity and heating annually. In addition to the parliament, the square of the revolution is worth a visit, but don't skip the many beautiful parks that the city has to offer. What are the prices in this city? For a taxi, you will pay about 0.4 euros for every kilometer driven, a good euro for a mug of draft beer, and 5 euros for a meal in a cheap restaurant. You can find a bed in a shared room in a hostel for as little as 5 euros per night.

Vilnius, Lithuania

Vilnius is a real hidden gem - the city's endlessly pleasant pulse reigns on its streets, and in restaurants you can eat like a lord for a fairly normal price. Despite being in the north, it is relatively cheap for northern countries. It is famous for its excellent classroom art, and the Genocide Museum is also worth a visit. Don't miss a walk through the bohemian neighborhood of Uzupis. What are the prices in this city? You can get a beer in the bar for as little as 2 euros, and dinner can be found for less than 10 euros.

May Day holidays by plane

If time and finances allow, then you can also go further afield for the May Day holiday to get to know other cultures. Where can the steel bird take you this year?

Beirut, Lebanon, Middle East

The coastal Lebanese capital of Beirut, or the “Paris of the Middle East”, will make a bigger impression on you than you might think. After the war, Beirut became an increasingly popular tourist destination, which will enchant you on your May Day trip with the city center in the style of Parisian streets and the fragrant sea air. You can easily walk through Beirut, stopping at the famous Place des Martyrs and taking a tour of the Planet Discovery interactive science museum. You can rest on the coast, from where a fantastic view of the natural stone arches of Pigeon Rocks opens, which are the most famous, but also a very rare natural attraction of the metropolis of Beirut.

New York, New York, USA

New York is famous for its uniqueness and urbanity, which is easily addictive. Not a minute will pass in New York without discovering something new and unforgettable. The New York subway even takes you back in time. The magnificent station under the city hall has not been active for almost 65 years, but the underground station is considered an architectural wonder. It will welcome you with high arches lined with antique tiles and skylights, through which beautiful natural light penetrates. From the underground, straight to the gardens at the top of Rockefeller Center a few tens of meters above the ground! The Staten Island Boat Graveyards are also worth a visit. Don't forget the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, Broadway and the famous Madison Square Garden.

Jakarta, Indonesia, Asia

Indonesia's capital, Jakarta, has a fascinating history behind it, making it extremely picturesque and multicultural. If you don't fall asleep, you can always catch a beautiful sunrise early in the morning, and after breakfast, head towards the Istikal Mosque, which is undoubtedly worth the time and money due to its grandeur. Jakarta is full of canals and drawbridges that lead tourists to many monuments. You can experience local art and culture at Taman Ismail Marzuki, the largest art center in Southeast Asia, which combines galleries, theaters, an art academy and a planetarium, among other things. For dinner, have baksa or soup with meatballs and noodles and spend the evening in the park looking at the national monument, which the townspeople call Monumen Nasional. Why not spend your May Day trip in one of Asia's most stunning metropolises?
