Exhibition Comic book heroes save Europe presents selected works of European comics of the twentieth century. European comics launched unforgettable heroes into the orbit of global comic production, whose adventures were followed by many generations of enthusiastic readers. The varied content of the works, either with a sophisticated sense of humor and satire or with an attractive narrative and drawing style, covered various areas in their spectrum of stories, from history, current political events, science fiction and the fantasy world to everyday topics. The central places on the European comics map are occupied by France and Belgium, which on a global scale stand alongside Japan and the United States of America.
The exhibition will present original comic strips by authors from eight European countries: France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Croatia, Serbia, Great Britain and Slovenia. The focus will be on Belgian, French and Italian authors, as well as on the production of the former Yugoslavia, especially Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia. Among the foreign authors we find famous names such as Jean Cézard, Raymond Poïvet, Jean-Marc Reiser, Raymond Macherot, Liliane and Fred Funcken, Marcel Remacle - Ted Smedley, Benito Jacovitti, Roberto Raviola - Magnus, Andrija Maurović, Žarko Beker, Branislav Bane Kerac and Aleksa Gajić.
