The Underground City of Coober Pedy

In Australia, some literally live down there ("Down Under" is Australia's nickname). Namely, the mining town of Coober Pedy is a town with more than 3,500 inhabitants gathered from all over the world (from more than 45 countries), located in South Australia. It is an unprecedented city that has been supplying the world with opals since 1915, and the mining town also relies on tourism.

Coober Pedy in Australia is an old mining town (north of Adelaide) which is completely underground, because life due to high temperatures (also above 50 degrees Celsius) is practically impossible on the surface. Its name means "white man's hole" in the Aboriginal language, and it was "founded" by a teenager in 1915 Willie Hutchinson, who was looking for water and gold in this place, and came across the largest deposit semi-precious stones opals.
