Crazy! Poimo is an inflatable electric scooter that you store in your backpack

Let's understand was created in collaboration between the Kawahara and Niiyama laboratories of the University of Tokyo and researchers at mercari R4D. They want to redefine themselves with a scooter electric mobility, by combining it with soft robotics.

Poimo isn't the first micromobility solution we've seen, but it's certainly the most interesting. The scooter is only heavy 5.5 kg and so compact that it can be folded into an average-sized backpack. It is designed based on soft robotic technology, making it soft, safe and lightweight, and people can easily carry it and transport it literally anywhere. In order to achieve the lowest possible total weight, they developed wireless power system.

The electric scooter is developed from a light and strong material, and although it is still under development, it has already been confirmed that it can carry or transport a person without any problems. The inflatable body is made of thermoplastic polyurethane, a material also used in airbeds, and independent components are attached to it: front and rear wheels, battery, electric motor, steering wheel and wireless control system. The developers claim that the process of inflating and attaching the components is easy and yes it shouldn't last more than five minutes!
