On the way from Kamnik to Brnik, in the village of Križ, we can visit the Čubr inn, which is a well-marked path leading us from the main road. The beginnings date back more than 250 years, and today the third generation has been pampering us with culinary delights. At first, their ancestors served mainly cold dishes, while now the offer has been thoroughly refined. More than the dishes from the permanent menu, they are known for various delicacies that change according to the seasons. The most typical dishes of their cuisine are štruklji, tarragon soup, slices of fresh sea bass on fried arugula, young roasted lamb or foal fillet with red pepper. They bake their bread at home, and buckwheat bread with fruit, corn cracklings, white bread with poppy seeds or graham bread with onions are particularly interesting. The inn is popular with business people, as its location in the middle of a quiet village ensures a calm and relaxed lunch away from the city noise. If guests are not limited in time, they are happy to 'snuggle' them with slow food. Because Čubro is aware that there is no good and successful lunch without a noble drop, they take care of this with more than a hundred types of bottled wines and several types of top-quality open wine, which they are happy to advise us on choosing. We can end our lunch with a wander around the village, a walk to the Kriš pond or a climb to the ruins of the Kriš castle, which dates back to the 16th century. Even if we are ever in the vicinity and just want something sweet, we simply have to stop by Čubro, if not for the homemade štruklji, then for the fresh homemade desserts prepared daily.
