In the oldest city theater in the world in Freiberg

V Freiberg industrious locals discovered silver 800 years ago and thus ensured the development of the town in the heart of Saxony in eastern Germany, which also boasts the oldest mountain service in the country and the oldest city seal in the province. Although the silver mine was closed in 1969, the mining tradition and the customs associated with it are still deeply rooted in the locals and can be relived at many events - at parades, where people in mining uniforms march through the streets of the silver town, or when visiting the mine "Reiche Zeche". In the mansion Freudenstein you can see the terra mineralia exhibition, one of the largest and most beautiful exhibitions of treasures from the earth. Silver also plays an important role in music - especially when it comes to the world-famous Gottfried Silbermann organ. With its unique sound, the Freiburg Cathedral of St. Mary and the church of St. Peter and St. Jakob attracts not only music lovers, but organists from all over the world. Pamper your ears and attend one of the regular organ concerts or visit the Freiburg Theater, the oldest city theater in the world, where the first performance of Carl Marie von Weber's first opera took place.
