A kiss can be the sweetest gift.
It's not the same if your crush kisses you on the hand, on the cheek, or blows you a kiss in the air. Each kiss has a different meaning behind it.
Are you interested in which one? Let's look at their importance through the research of three relationship experts, Indigo Stray Conger, Lexx Brown James, Gigi Engle, who broke down 20 types of kisses.
1. French kiss
A French kiss shows lust and passion. It means an open-mouthed kiss that includes the tongue. While some people like to control how much and how they use their tongue, others like wet kisses, says Stray Conger.
2. A kiss sent through the air
An air kiss is more of a greeting than a romantic gesture and can be exchanged completely platonically by friends and family members. This happens when you press a person's lips together as if to kiss, and then kiss the air next to the other person's cheeks. In some cultures, one air kiss is appropriate, while in others, two or three.
3. A quick kiss
It's a simple, light touch on the lips. The lips could be closed and slightly puckered or compressed, or they could be slightly open. People generally aim to kiss for the first time because it's intimate without being too sensual.
4. A kiss on the forehead
It's a gentle kiss and suggests more connection and concern than sexual attraction. Forehead kisses are used between romantic partners and are often given to children by parents or other family members.
5. A kiss on the hand
These kisses are often considered a sign of respect. It can also be just a gentle, loving gesture between two people.
6. A kiss on the neck
Because the neck is a vulnerable part of the body, exposing it is generally a sign of flirting, explains the body language expert Blanca Cobb.
Kisses of a partner on a woman's neck while she is putting on makeup or getting dressed can be very erotically colored. Lexx Brown-James recommends kissing the nape and sides of the neck.
7. Butterfly kiss
It happens when you and your partner are looking face to face. You quickly close and open them a few times, letting your lashes caress their skin. These sweet kisses are usually shared by parents with small children as well.
8. A kiss on the cheek
Kissing someone on the cheek can be a platonic gesture of greeting and is often used between friends and family members. In other situations, it can also be a good way to let someone know you like them if you're not quite ready for a real first kiss.
9. Love bite
To spice up a French kiss, try gently biting your partner's lips or gently pulling on your lip with your teeth. Just slowly and gently so no one gets hurt.
10. Kissing the body
A kiss on the body is a more erotic and intimate way of kissing. You can kiss different parts of the body, such as the earlobes, the sides of the neck, anywhere where the blood flow is close to the surface of the skin. "This includes places like the buttocks, the inside of the wrists, the nape of the neck," says Brown-James.
11. Kiss of the lizard
A lizard kiss is when two partners kiss with only their tongues touching, without lips. Such a kiss is definitely unique and definitely not for everyone, but it usually happens during intercourse.
12. Kissing the earlobe
A kiss on the earlobes is like a kiss on the neck, it can be extremely vulnerable and erotic. Because the earlobes contain many nerve endings, this can be a sensitive and stimulating area and is often considered an erogenous zone.
13. Kissing nipples
Playing with nipples can be extremely pleasurable for some people, and some women can even have an orgasm while doing it. This is because this type of touch activates the same nerve endings as the clitoris. In addition to massaging, squeezing the breasts, kissing the nipples can bring a lot of satisfaction to some.
14. Kissing the genitals
It's not the same as oral sex, but it's a good part of it. Kissing a partner through underwear or directly on the skin of the genitals can increase the desire for sex.
15. Spiderman kiss
This kiss is based on the famous Spiderman movie scene where Tobey Maguire (Spiderman) kisses Kirsten Dunst (Mary Jane Watson) while hanging upside down. You can do this with one person lying down and the other person standing over them.
16. A kiss on the top of the head
A kiss on the head usually comes from parents or grandparents. They can give people a sense of security, comfort and closeness. And such a kiss from a partner can also mean security, especially if it is complemented by a hug from behind.
17. Kiss on one lip
A kiss on one lip is a good introduction to the French kiss, where one partner kisses the bottom and the other kisses the top.
18. A kiss on the shoulder
Kisses on the shoulders, especially from behind, can be an invitation to kiss. It can be an intimate and sensual kiss.
19. Angel's kiss
This type of tender kiss occurs when one person gently kisses the other person's eyelid and can have several meanings. Most often it is a romantic gesture because it is a very unusual form of kiss.
20. A kiss on the nose
A kiss on the nose can be with the lips or a nose-to-nose touch. Most often it is a sweet, family greeting (similar to a butterfly kiss) where two people will rub noses together.
