Dior's exhibition Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams can now be viewed online!

At Dior, the exhibition Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams, which we could see between 2017 and 2018 at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, and last year at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, has now been brought online. The exhibition traces the evolution of Christian Dior, from post-war Paris to the present day.

The evolution of the French fashion house includes Dior's "new look" era of elegance and celebrates iconic creative directors over the years. At Dior, they documented the design exhibitions, and they also organized virtual tour with a documentary on his YouTube channel and prepared a series of archive footage on Instagram. They can follow Florence Müller, the curator of the exhibition, as she goes through the Dior archives, presents in detail the history of the fashion house and reveals some of the most iconic moments in fashion.

"The 'bar' dress is iconic, not just for Dior, but for the history of haute couture," says Müller. "In fashion, such important turning points, revolutions, rarely come with a single collection," he adds.

The 'Bar' suit – a feat of architecture, a legend of virtuosity and the quintessence of the House style – defined Christian Dior's success in 1947. With its instantly recognizable cinched waist, soft shoulders, open neck and the sculptural modernity of its pronounced peplum, this icon of icons, and fashion history point of reference, accentuates the curves of the female body, while its pleated skirt falls and flares gracefully. A paean to desire and sensuality, this silhouette is a singular symbol of the New Look revolution. "The color of happiness and femininity" in the words of Christian Dior, pink illuminates this mesmerizing dress baptized 'Opéra-Bouffe', designed by the couturier in 1956. This tribute to movement and to the savoir-faire excellence contained in the ateliers recalls Monsieur Dior's adoration for the queen of flowers. The rose garden of his childhood home at Granville instilled in him an indelible passion for gardens. This joyfully sculptural haute couture creation is just one of the many escapist treasures we invite you to discover – through the link in bio – on this magical visit to 'Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams'. #DiorHeritage © Laziz Hamani / Dress from the Dior Heritage collection, Paris
