Sustainable house design in Hong Kong as a tribute to modern technology

An existing 40-year-old house in Sha Tin District, Hong Kong, recently received a complete makeover.

Architects from Millimeter Interior Design Limited are house size 474 square meters completely remodeled by splitting it into two floors and a garage that is surrounded by LED light tubes for an added futuristic effect.

A young maple tree was planted in the center of the house, which receives a lot of natural light with the open glass roof directly above it. There were huge panels with solar cells installed on the roof, providing the whole house with a source of natural energy for lighting, water heater and battery backup. The purpose of the entire renovation was to transform the home from old to newer, urban style, while still maintaining the original construction. Now that environmental awareness and social responsibility have become a trend, the sustainability of homes is considered an alternative lifestyle for new generations.

Take a look at the beautiful spaces of the converted home in the gallery.
