Step into the fastest elevator in the world: the elevator at Lotte World Tower takes you up floors

Lotte World Tower

Lotte World Tower is a 554.5-meter-high skyscraper in Seoul, South Korea, which attracts not only because of its height (it is the tallest building in East Asia) and unusual shape, but also because of the elevator, which is considered the fastest in the world. The building was officially opened on April 3, 2017, and the first lucky ones already had the opportunity to enter the fastest elevator in the world and experience a record-breaking fast ascent to the observation deck with an imposing view.

A few days ago they were in the capital of South Korea, Seoul, opened after six years of construction the Lotte World Tower, who is with 554.5 meters high the fifth tallest building in the world (the tallest at 828.8 meters remains Dubai's Burj Khalifa) and the tallest building in OECD member countries.

It also has the highest closed viewing platform with transparent floor in the world (497.6 meters above the ground), as well the highest lying pool (85 floor). The skyscraper has otherwise 129 floors (123 above and 6 below ground), of which about a fifth are occupied by offices, apartments and a hotel, and of course there are no shops, while the upper floors mainly offer viewing platforms. In South Korea, such a multi-purpose building is called officetel.

The skyscraper is environmentally friendly, as it partially uses its 'organism' to function juicy energy, while the wind reaps with wind turbines. The building is currently in the acquisition phase green certificate LEED Gold. Now a word or two about the elevator. Lotte World Tower has the fastest elevator in the world. This goes with the speed of ascent to the limit that a person can still bear without emptying his stomach in the meantime and having problems with his balance later.

The passenger should be brought from the ground floor to the viewing platform in less than a minute, as evidenced by the video. Most of the time the elevator goes straight up 18 meters per second (on average, elevators go up at speed 5 m/s)! You have to see it with your own eyes. Too fast? Let's remember. Years ago, a system was installed in the Moscow TV tower that enabled a maximum speed of 9 m/s. This soon after triggered the health problems of the staff, viz balance disorders, which were triggered by rapid and (too) frequent changes in height difference. That was the limit, they said at the time.

They are extraordinary acceleration in Lotte World Tower, which spans 304 square meters and was designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox, solved by equalizing the pressure?
