The great surrealist artist Salvador Dali is certainly one of the biggest names in 20th century art. The Spaniard, born in 1904, once uttered the famous phrase, not at all modestly: "Surrealism, that's me!" Andre Breton, around whom Surrealist artists gathered in Paris in the first half of the twentieth century, had a key influence on the creation of the eccentric artist, who was considered a madman by many who did not understand him. Dali's work was especially fruitful in the 1960s, when he created the famous series of hundreds of woodcuts for the hundred cantos of Dante's Divine Comedy, which were also exhibited in Ljubljana during these months.
