Facebook is seriously stepping into the segment of wearable devices and announces that augmented reality glasses will soon be available. But this time something more fun!
The first pair of smart glasses made by Facebook & Ray-Ban will be available from Thursday. They will be on sale for around 299 USD (EU price unknown). They're called Ray-Ban Stories and you'll find them almost anywhere Ray-Bans are sold.
The frames have two front cameras for recording video and photos. They sync with a companion camera app called Facebook View, where you can edit and share shots with other apps on your phone (not just Facebook). There's a physical button to record on the glasses, or you can say "Hey Facebook, record a video" to control them hands-free.
With its basic photo and video capability, Ray-Ban Stories are essentially a sleeker version of Snapchat's Spectacles, which first debuted in 2016 to much fanfare and anticipation.
This is the first step to the next joint project, which would definitely be more challenging and in the direction of an argumentative reality.
