One of the rare examples of a suburban villa is hidden in Metleče near Šoštanje, on a slight hill. Villa Široko, a part of the history of Šoštanj, was built in the 1930s. In the past, members of the Woschnagg leather family lived here, but today, with a little support, the villa has turned into a true temple of Šaleška Valley cuisine; they are particularly known for large culinary events. However, if we just want a romantic lunch or dinner, the ambiance will be perfect. The surrounding park also contributes to this, the design of which has hardly changed since the beginning, and in autumn we can only marvel at the colors of the wild vines that wrap the facade of the villa. The surroundings of the villa are calming, majestic, romantic and mysterious in the evenings, and radiate a very special warmth. The warmth also continues in the culinary offer. In Vila Široko, they operate according to the principle of modern cuisine, which is based on tradition and excellent ingredients. For an aperitif, perhaps a glass of sparkling wine, and then the explosion of flavors begins, slowly moving from traditional Slovenian to coastal cuisine to international cuisine, and the sommelier's selection of wines rounds it all off, as they have a large selection of products from Slovenian winegrowers at their disposal.
