The origins of the Maribor Festival date back more than half a century. Today, the Maribor Festival is one of the most recognizable and high-quality festivals on Slovenian soil. The Maribor Festival 2017 will take place between September 3 and 21, 2017. As every year, important foreign and local musicians will perform on Maribor's stages, and this year's theme of the festival is romance with all its derivatives and in the broadest sense of the word. Roots Festival Maribor they span far and deep: the festival laid its first foundations more than half a century ago. It evolved from an international chamber music festival Musical September, which is still modeled on today according to quality and high performance level. Festival Maribor 2017 will be held from 3 to 21 September 2017. This year's festival will be co-created by musicians with domestic ones and international stages.

As every year, this year is also the core of the festival Maribor Festival Chamber Ensemble, and will also participate SNG Maribor Symphony Orchestra.
