The artistic friendship of Max Reger (1873–1916) and Henri Marteau (1874–1934) is evidenced by numerous compositions, letters and joint performances. They also shared a love for the music of Mozart and Brahms, and they left behind a colorful and sophisticatedly structured clarinet quintet. The young clarinetist Blaž Šparovec will perform the piece with an international string quartet, which recently won first prize at the ICMF Icelandic Chamber Music Festival competition and which also features Slovenian cellist Nika Brnič.
