There are very few real string ensembles in Slovenia, so we will be all the more pleased to hear that we have the opportunity to listen to the excellent Godalik quartet. In the quartet, the roles are divided according to the principle of a string quartet, as we already know from classical music. The two violins played by Jelena Ždrale and Klemen Bračko, the viola played by Matjaž Sekne, and the cello played by Klemen Hvala form an interesting musical phenomenon, which is gladly joined at concerts by various musicians, such as bassist and composer Nino de Gleria, who is also the author of most of the compositions in their permanent repertoire, and many others. Despite the classical line-up, their music is unconventional and difficult to define, as it contains elements of jazz, ethno and classical. When playing, they want to emphasize group play and a common sound, which they complement here and there with imaginative solo contributions. The titles of their compositions are also very funny and imaginative: Rifi na jutrove, Šubi dubi apartma and Dobroľo v duple untnočice, to name just a few. Their music easily appeals to both young listeners and the young at heart.
