The Ford Mustang GTD, with a whopping $325,000 price tag, has revealed its interior and option packages ahead of the GT3 race at Le Mans. What does this road-legal beast bring?
The Ford Mustang GTD, which is already raising dust with its price 325,000 dollars, is now even more attractive with a series of new option packages, including the high-performance Performance package. Designed for sheer speed and racing elegance, this road-legal beast offers everything a performance car enthusiast could wish for.
The Performance package brings a series of improvements focused on reducing weight and improving aerodynamics. The front of the car is equipped with larger air deflectors and a large lower spoiler. The rear part is dominated by a massive wing with an integrated system to reduce air resistance, which enables faster driving on flat surfaces. In addition, the package includes 20-inch magnesium wheels dressed in a new Chroma Flame color and the removal of sound insulation to further reduce weight.
Inside, the Mustang GTD retains the recognizable Mustang look, with accessories that match its premium status. Standard Recaro seats, special graphic displays on the screens and titanium gear levers create a real racing atmosphere. There are two new buttons on the center console: one to access the Track Apps and the other to activate the front axle lift function. The special GTD steering wheel and transparent rear window allow a view of the rear suspension, underscoring the technological sophistication of this vehicle.
Mustang GTD Chief Engineer Greg Goodall stated, “A lot of sports cars are great at one thing. But for a fast lap at the Nürburgring, the car has to be excellent in everything: cornering, grip, braking, acceleration, there is no area where it should not shine.” With the Performance package, the Mustang GTD is designed for under seven minutes on the famous Nürburgring.
Ford also offers the GTD in a special Carbon Series version, where some parts of the carbon fiber body are unpainted, giving the car a raw and elegant look. The rims, either aluminum or magnesium, have a special Magnetite finish. Buyers can choose from six standard exterior colors, including the new Chroma Flame.
Ford is planning a two-year production run of the Mustang GTD, with a projected number of around 1,400 vehicles. The price, which starts at $325,000, did not deter buyers, as Ford received more than 7,500 applications from interested buyers from the US and Canada. Although the application process for these markets is closed, applications for European buyers will open soon.
With an exclusive series that promises uncompromising driving and technological perfection, the Mustang GTD is positioned as an icon of modern sports cars. Time will tell if it lives up to its price tag and reputation on the racetrack, but from first impressions and impressive specs, it's clear that this is a car that sets new standards in the world of high-performance vehicles.
