Forget the hipsters, in 2020 the shipsters are coming!

In the past few years, sportswear has become a major trend in men's fashion, displacing the hipster style. But with the new year, the hipsters are back in a new guise - here come those shipsters!

The early (soon to be) past decade certainly made a mark in men's street style hipsters, who were easily recognized by their vintage clothes, tight jeans, checkered shirts, big glasses, hats and ironic mustaches or bushy beards, which often made them look like very fashionable foresters. "Hipsters 2.0" respectively the shipsters however, they shifted from the forestry style towards naval.

Shipsters are thus a mixture of the main trends we have seen in men's fashion in the last ten years - hipster style combined with sports or hiking, vintage clothes and elements of British or French sailor style.

A word shipster is a combination of words ship (eng. ship) and hipster and indicates someone who dresses like a hipster sailor. A little in jest, a little for real: whatever the season shipster usually wears a woolen cap, which does not cover the ears, sweater with a distinctive knitted navy pattern, velvet pants and sneakers or boots, although he most likely lives at least on the outskirts of a major city and not near the coast. He often wears too beard, use protective creams but it is mandatory!

Men's fashion was often inspired by work clothes (this time sailor clothes), as these are practically designed, and through design it is possible to add various elements that will brighten up the clothes. As an interesting fact, we should add that the sailors were supposed to wear theirs cap over the ears, that it would keep their head warm, but at the same time allow them to still hear the captain despite the loud roar of the sea, and today this way of wearing a cap has become fashionable precisely because of its unusualness and cool appearance, because for someone who lives in the city, it has no real function .

Major brands that offer shipster clothing include British brands such as The Workers Club, Albam, YMC and Universal Works, who create quality and interesting clothes with a retro touch, and similar pieces can also be found in stores Banana Republic, Massimo Dutti, Zara, Pull&Bear, etc.

Shipster style, however, did already appeared in films, e.g. in the movie A knife in the back, where Chris Evans' character wears a Woolen Mills navy knit sweater, resulting in a 150 percent increase in the brand's sales! A movie is also an excellent "advertisement" for the shipster style Lighthouse, starring Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe, or the movie Life under water Wes Anderson.
