France Prešeren, our greatest Slovenian poet, gave us the most sensual poetry, which would make a stone cry! We probably all know where he got the inspiration for his poetry, but we don't really know much about Prešeren's mysterious life.
At school we learned about to the great Slovenian poet France Prešern, whose life is a myth that must be taken with a grain of salt - it is not only a question of insufficient evaluation of his works, which are undoubtedly eternal, but also of his private life, which is miserable and unhappy compared to the brilliant poetry.
The gap between the actual and idealized France Prešeren is so deep that we have decided to believe in the myth of the super Prešeren, who is not only a gentle, romantic and dreamy persona, but also an attractive man with charisma.
France Preseren indeed it is the greatest Slovenian poet, but he was also something else. And it's time to learn the biggest secrets about France Prešeren.
1. Various authors have already written a lot about the family of France Prešeren, but it is difficult for Prešerenologists to find out the real truth when France was born. The date of his birth was determined by the official superstition December 3, but France is said not to have been born at that time, but rather to have been baptized. No one should know the real date, so it makes more sense to mark it February 8 as a cultural holiday, as sources confirm with certainty that France died at that time.
2. The fishing years for France Prešeren were not easy, as he confesses in Sonnets of misfortune, but presernoscholars obviously did not understand the meaning of his rhymes very well. He is said to hate the pond, because he probably had some (bad) experience there that was related to sexuality. Some sources claim that allegedly a victim of sexual abuse, which at the time was shameful to talk about. His attitude towards women is also said to be extremely eccentric.
3. The biggest puzzle related to France Prešern is the cause of his death. The records testify to the fact that he was an alcoholic, but some historians claim that France sometimes drank a glass more, but he was not a drunkard, but an ordinary citizen. France Prešeren is said to be an occasional drinker who was looking for a sedative due to tension. There is said to be a letter, kept in the estate of the Prešerenologist Fran Levac, in which we learn more about the apocryphal Prešeren or to the secret France and his erotic songs, which are not found in Prešeren's official opus. These are songs that do not belong in high culture because they contain words like fuck, piss, ass, hooker, bitch, bitch, jerk off. Julija was also a rich noblewoman, about whom a lot was written in general at that time.
