JS Bach's Easter masterpiece is coming to the Union Hall of the Grand Hotel Union, which will be performed under the baton of the famous conductor Erwin Ortner with the Vienna Orchestra, choir and international soloists who found the center of their artistic activity in Vienna.
Passion according to John of the composer's grandmaster JS Bach is the older of his two fully preserved passions. It was written during the first year of JS Bach's service in Leipzig and was premiered on April 7, 1724, on Good Friday, in the church of St. Nicholas.
The Passion according to John is the story of the Last Supper on Maundy Thursday, told by the 4 main characters (Evangelist, Jesus, Peter and Pilate), accompanied by probably the most beautiful choral motets and independent arias, which follow Jesus' path to death on the cross until the moment when the body of the deceased Jesus is placed in the tomb.
The concert is a mixture young soloists, all of whom are enjoying international success in opera and concert houses around the world, and the wisdom and experience of the conductor prof. Erwin Ortner, a longtime colleague who passed away this year Nikolaus Harnoncourt, a full professor at the Vienna Academy and the recipient of many international awards, including the famous one grammy for choral music with his chorus Arnold Schoenberg Choir, who will be among the performers in Ljubljana. He will also recreate under Ortner's direction WISE Consort (Wien International Soloist Ensemble), which is an ensemble for early music and consists of young, internationally awarded soloists and is considered a rising star of ensembles that perform early music in Central Europe.
